Calculator Technology Activities

    For Math and Science Applications

'Probeware' is a technology where you can connect any of several available probes to a graphing calculator or computer for automatic data collection and analysis. Allows students to spend more time doing activities or experiments for deeper understanding of concepts.

Examples of probeware:

CBR Sonic Motion Detector

The CBR 2 is Texas Instrument's easy, affordable data collection device! It is designed for teachers who want their students to collect and analyze real-world motion data, such as distance, velocity and acceleration. Great for algebra through calculus and statistics, as well as physical science and physics.

  • Graph Document - This document shows pictures of various graphs that you can have students try to recreate on their calculator using the sonic motion detector.

Hundreds of other sensors are available, for applications in all science fields!

For example: Acceleration, Charge, Conductivity, Flowrate, Force, Light (including Infrared and UV), Magnetic Field, pH, Radioation, Sound, Spectrometers, Temperature, Turbidity, Voltage and Weather. Some are now available with wireless Bluetooth technology.
